Popular Crewe cricket club fundraises to replace 'deteriorated' training facilty

Wistaston Cricket Club is fundraising to install a brand new £45k two-lane training nets facility, aiming to replace its "old and deteriorated" nets, now unsafe for its teams to use.
Founded in 1980, Wistaston Cricket Club is based at the Eric Swan Sports Ground, off Church Lane, behind Wistaston Church Lane Academy.
Wistaston Cricket Club offers two senior men's teams, 'All Stars' for five to eight-year-olds, junior coaching and competitive teams from under nines to under 13s and friendlies and development teams, as well as ladies softball and hardball teams.

With over 150 active members regularly attending with family and friends, Wistaston Cricket Club competes in the Cheshire Cricket League, North Staffs and South Cheshire League, Stone League, Cheshire Women's Cricket League and South Cheshire Junior League.
Now, the club has created a Crowdfunder to enhance its training facilities with new practise nets, aiming to reach £20,000.
With the development totalling £45,000, Wistaston Cricket Club has already raised £25,000 from its "wonderful" members.
At the time of publishing, the cricket club Crowdfunder has already raised £6,180.

Wistaston Cricket Club said: "In 2025, we are fundraising for a new two-lane nets facility.
"Our current practice nets are old and have deteriorated to the point that they are no longer safe to use.
"We have decided to take on the ambitious project of raising £45,000 to replace the current nets with a facility that will last for many years to come, give us greater scope for more members and squads to train, and support the community via local schools.
"Through our wonderful members we have already raised £25,000, this gives us the beginnings of an amazing set up.

"Through Crowd Funding we're hoping to raise the remaining £20,000, meaning we can have the best set up for our members and the community surrounding the club, securing an excellent training facility for our members and for many years into the future."
