Popular Crewe corner shop given green light to extend premises
A popular Crewe corner shop has been given the green light for an expansion, building on vacant land at the back of its premises.
On Tuesday 4 July, Cheshire East approved proposals for a single-storey shop extension to Thoroughgoods Convenience Store, Manor Way.
The extension allows the Crewe convenience store to construct a new storeroom on vacant land to the rear of its premises on Salisbury Avenue.
This new storeroom take excess stock away the shop floor, creating more space for customers and staff.
Following objections from neighbouring properties and Crewe Town Council to the original application, the development was revised to reduce the depth of the extension.
A Cheshire East planning officer was satisfied with the revised proposals, believing it will not negatively impact visual amenity.
Their conclusion read: "The proposed development would be acceptable in principle in this location.
"There would though be no further harm to the character of the area.
"There are no further amenity impacts. There would be an adverse highway safety impact.
"It is therefore found that planning permission should be granted."
Thoroughgoods Convenience Store is open 6.30am to 10.30pm (Monday to Thursday), 6.30am to 11pm (Friday and Saturday) and 7am to 10pm (Sunday).
