Popular council bus route to use new Crewe link road following 'revised timetable'

A popular Cheshire East Council funded bus route in Crewe will be using a new link road in the town from next week, in a "revised timetable."

The 42 (Crewe to Congleton) service, will be using Harrison Drive between Crewe Bus Station and Eagle Bridge Health Centre, from Monday 8 January.

This new road, which opened in August 2023, connects Flag Lane with Dunwoody Way.

Passengers have been told to use the Eagle Bridge Health Centre stops along the new route via Harrison Drive and Dunwoody Way (Ryan Parker).

Cheshire East Council has confirmed the bus stop in Morrisons Car Park will no longer be used.

A Cheshire East Council statement read: "The 42 service will change from Monday 8 January. Buses will operate to a revised timetable.

"In Crewe, buses will operate via Harrison Drive and Dunwoody Way between Crewe Bus Station and Eagle Bridge Health Centre.

"The stop in Morrisons Car Park will no longer be served.

The Flage Lane Link (Harrison Drive), which opened in August 2023, connects Flag Lane with Dunwoody Way.

"Passengers for Morrisons should use the Eagle Bridge Health Centre stops.

"In Middlewich, Elm Road will no longer be served, and buses towards Crewe will not serve the Bull Ring but will serve Leadsmithy Street."
