By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

POLICE are appealing for information after a schoolboy was attacked in Crewe town centre.

Shoppers came to the aid of the 15-year-old, who suffered a head wound in the incident which took place on Victoria Street near to Waterstones book shop just before 5pm last Friday.

It is understood the victim was targeted by a gang of youths who ran off afterwards. The teenager was taken to Leighton Hospital for treatment.

Police say the attack was carried out by a "named suspect", but their enquiries are ongoing.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "On December 11 we received reports that a teenager had been assaulted by a named suspect.

"Officers attended and a 15-year-old boy was found with minor injuries. He was taken to Leighton Hospital as a precaution."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 871262.
