A WOMAN motorist was close to crashing her car after a gang threw a block of ice through her windscreen.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the frightening incident which took place yesterday (Sunday) between 2.05pm and 2.10pm as the woman was driving along Badger Avenue.

Just before she got to the lights at the junction of Broad Street a group of three men and one woman threw a block of ice at her car.

Her windscreen smashed and the wing mirror was knocked off.

The group, who have been described as being in their late 20s, made off in the direction of Crewe Cemetery.

Insp. Andy Smith said: "The shock of the window smashing nearly caused the woman to crash her car. This was an incredibly dangerous and stupid thing to do and could have caused a serious collision.

"I'd urge anyone who was driving past at the time and captured this on dashcam to contact us so that we can find those responsible."

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 902414. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
