Plans to demolish delapidated Crewe house for new apartments development
Plans have been submitted to demolish a long-derelict Crewe terraced house for a new apartments development.
This winter, applicant, Mr Sean Eastwood, proposed to bulldoze 4 Hall O Shaw Street and its rear walls, backing onto Queen Street.
Mr Eastwood wants to demolish this property to erect a new four-storey building comprising six apartments, internal parking and communal exterior amenity spaces.
The communal amenity space would be in the form of an open roof garden.
These plans also consist of internal stairs connecting the apartments across the floors, as well as communal bin storage and cycle storage, accessed from Queen Street.
Apartment one would be on the ground floor, with apartments two and three on the first floor, four and five on the second floor and apartment six on the third floor, along with the roof garden.
Cheshire East Environmental Health recommends this application to be refused on the ground "insufficient information" has been provided relating to noise/residential amenity.
A statement reads: "Insufficient information has been submitted with the application, in order to adequately assess the impact of the proposed development having regard to noise (commercial and traffic).
"In the absence of this information, it has not been possible to demonstrate the proposal would comply with material planning considerations.
"It is recommended the applicant addresses this issue in future planning applications or provides this information should the application be delayed or withdrawn."
While supporting a residential development, Crewe Town Council believe the proposals represent "significant over-development" of the site, not in keeping with the "traditional terraced housing residential nature" of the location.
The Crewe planning application is targeted to be decided on Friday 7 February.
