Plans for new homes in Crewe village given go-ahead
By Belinda Ryan - Local Democracy Reporter 6th Feb 2026
Plans for two new detached houses in Weston have been given the go-ahead.
Cheshire East's southern planning committee took about 10 minutes to grant full planning permission for the infill proposal at the head of a cul-de-sac on land adjacent to 12 and 15 Fourways.
The application had to be considered by a committee because it had been recommended for approval by officers but was against local plan policy.
Planning officer Dan Evans told the meeting: "It's on the edge of Weston.
"It's in the open countryside, so it's contrary to our policies. We haven't got a [five year] housing land supply."
Cllr Linda Buchanan (Shavington, Labour), said it was infill and 'I would assume, according to the neighbourhood plan, they will be happy with infill in this area'.
She continued: "There haven't been any objections, as I understand it, from the parish council or from the ward councillor, so I think it probably would be acceptable to the residents of Weston."
Cllr Mike Muldoon (Sandbach, Conservative), moved the application be approved with conditions.
This was seconded by Brereton councillor John Wray (Conservative), and the vote was unanimous.
