Plans have been submitted to install a new digital advertising screen in a busy area of Crewe, close to the town's railway station.

This July, applicant, Wildstone Estatates Limited, applied for advertisement consent at 8 Nantwich Road, on the wall fronting the car park in-between Bombaye Junction and United Carpets.

The outdoor media infrastructure provider wants to install a wall-mounted digital 48-sheet advertisement, as part of a nation-wide project to upgrade traditional advertisement hoardings.

The new Crewe South signboard would be capable of advertising six campaigns at a time, sequencing every 10 seconds.

The new Nantwich Road digital screen would be capable of advertising six campaigns at a time, sequencing every 10 seconds (CEC Planning).

A cover letter reads: "The proposal seeks to erect a wall-mounted D-poster display on the gable of 8 Nantwich Road, Crewe, which will display multiple static advertisements on rotation.

"The proposed panel has the same dimensions as a standard 48-sheet hoarding, measuring six metres by three metres and will be positioned 2.15 metres above ground.

"The proposed new display technology is lightweight, durable, efficient and can be easily erected with minimal engineering.

"The quality of the image produced with mimic that of a traditional poster and paste display.

"The proposed development will meet modern requirements and will be capable of displaying six advertising campaigns at a time. sequencing every 10 seconds.

"The ability to carry multiple adverts will cater for the demand in this area and reduce the pressure for new locations."

The last date for submitting comments on the application is Tuesday 12 August, with a target decision date of Tuesday 2 September.
