RESIDENTS and businesses in Haslington produced over 80 scarecrows for the village's first Scarecrow Trail.

Many were on topical themes, including the pandemic and the Tokyo Olympics (see picture gallery above) and are still on display in the village (as well as in Winterley), although the trail was held between July 31 and August 6.

The event was organised by Haslington Support Group, the voluntary organisation formed last year to mobilise help for the elderly and vulnerable with shopping and prescription pick-ups, as well as other errands.

Money raised from donations from downloads of the Haslington Scarecrow Trail map will be used to help provide community support and projects within the parish.
