The woman from Nantwich, who has asked not to be named, was shocked to receive a parking charge from Premier Park demanding a £100 payment, with the reason 'Not Parked Wholly Within Bay.'

She told Nub News: "One this day I had visited several shops including Next and the new Matalan.

A Nantwich resident was shocked to receive a parking charge from Premier Park demanding a £100 payment, with the reason 'Not Parked Wholly Within Bay' (Ryan Parker).

"I was concerned I had gone over the three hours limit and looked deeper into the charge.

"It seems my car wheel was slightly at an angle meaning just half the tyre was slightly over the while line. I'm understandably furious.

"The fine does not match the 'crime' and is terribly 'scrooge-like in the run up to Christmas.

"It really doesn't do anything to encourage me to drive into Crewe to shop, instead I'll do it in Nantwich or online."

The Nantwich resident had visited several shops including Next and Crewe's new Matalan (Ryan Parker).

The shopper has lodged an appeal with Premier Park, which manages the car park and has signs around it, after receiving the Parking Charge Notice in the post.

She added: "I don't take up much space with my little Ford KA and often see much larger vehicles swallowing up a whole space and pumping out pollution as they queue to get into the Grand Junction.

"In small print, the letter says the fee is reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.

"I have lodged an appeal which you have to do online, again not easy as you have to be quite tech-savvy to get your head round the online form.

"I just hope other people will be warned in the run up to Christmas to avoid being caught out like this."
