Motorists have been warned after a sinkhole appeared in a residential street in Crewe, close to a primary school.

On Wednesday 11 December, Rope Parish Council alerted members of the public to a sinkhole on Laidon Avenue, close to Berkeley Academy.

The sinkhole appeared in the middle of road during the evening, with Cadent Gas workmen on-site from 9pm.

Rope Parish Council said: "A sinkhole has occurred on Laidon Avenue, just down from the school.

The sinkhole appeared in the middle of road on Laidon Avenue during the evening, with workmen on-site from 9pm (Kat Reeves).

"Please be aware the road may well be blocked off when taking your child to school. Workmen are there now."
