A MOTORBIKE dealership in Crewe is being converted into a Covid-19 vaccination centre.
Work is underway setting up vaccine stations at Crewe Honda Centre in West Street where part of the showroom floor is to be used for delivering jabs.
Managing Director Roger Morris said in a Facebook post that his long-established Crewe business had offered their premises free of charge to the NHS.
The move was initiated after staff began reflooring work and it was suggested the spacious retail unit would be well suited to being used as a vaccination hub.
"I didn't really think anything of it until the next minute someone from the NHS appeared and asked me if they could rent the building. I, of course, declined and said I will donate the building for as long as its needed. Since then it's been a race to clear the building and get it ready for the opening this Saturday," said the businessman in his post.
"I hope this small gesture will help the local community in the fight against the current pandemic."
When it can reopen again after restrictions ease the motorbike centre plans to use one side of its premises for the business.
The vaccination roll-out in Crewe has seen jabs delivered at the Apollo Buckingham Health Science Campus (formerly MMU Cheshire) and two GP practices, which are among 16 GP-led services started up in Cheshire this month.
Jabs have also been administered from Leighton Hospital since the end of December.
