A man has been taken to hospital following welfare "concerns", after Cheshire Police closed a busy road in Crewe for around 45 minutes.

On Wednesday 20 September, police and paramedics were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on Hungerford Road.

At around 3:45pm, emergency services arrived, with officers closing the road at both ends.

Cheshire Police reopened Hungerford Road at 4:30pm, around 45 minutes after it had closed (Nub News).

North West Ambulance Service treated the man at the scene, before he was taken to Leighton Hospital.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 3:45pm on Wednesday 20 September, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on Hungerford Road.

"Police and paramedics attended the scene and the man was subsequently taken to hospital.

A number of local residents complained of long traffic delays in the Crewe area on social media on Wednesday 20 September (Cheshire Police).

"Hungerford Road was closed for a short time while the men was treated by paramedics. It reopened at 4:30pm."
