Man in hospital with 'considerable injuries' following Crewe alleyway attack

Cheshire Police detectives are investigating an attempted robbery in Crewe, where a local man was left with "considerable injuries."

On Wednesday 6 December, a 43-year-old man was cycling along Batemen Close, when he approached an alleyway leading on to Richard Moon Street.

At around 11pm, whilst travelling down the alleyway, an unknown man, who had been waiting at the other end, pulled him from the bike.

The victim was hit in the face and the abdomen with an unknown blunt object (Google).

The unknown suspect then proceeded to assault the man, hitting him on the face and the abdomen with an unknown blunt object.

The injuries sustained by the weapons required hospital treatment.

Despite the attack, the victim managed hold on to his bike, with the suspect fleeing the scene in the direction of Richard Moon Street.

The man is described as white, dressed in all black, with a grey beanie-style hat and was wearing a face covering up to eye level.

Enquiries have been ongoing and officers appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dash cam footage to get in touch.

Detective sergeant Thomas Binder, of CID Proactive East, said: "This was a terrifying attack which has left the victim with considerable injuries.

Cheshire Police are encouraging anyone to get in touch who witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious, or if they have CCTV or dash cam footage (Cheshire Police).

"Since this incident has been reported, we have been carrying out a number of enquiries and are now appealing to the public to come forward with information.

"Please get in touch if you witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious, or if you have CCTV or dash cam footage which could assist our investigation."
