Man arrested in connection with Crewe town centre burglaries

Detectives investigating a series of burglaries in Crewe town centre have arrested a man in connection with the incidents.

The 40-year-old local man was arrested at around 2.30am on Tuesday 5th September, when officers were called to reports of suspicious activity near to Pound Bakery on Victoria Street.

Officers were at the scene within a minute and with assistance from the police dog, a man was arrested nearby. He has been arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary.

Sergeant Steve Tandy said: "We understand the concern these incidents have caused, and I hope that this morning's arrest provides reassurance for local residents and the wider business community.

"We are committed to doing all we can to tackle this type of criminality and ensuring that those who are responsible are held accountable for their actions."

The man has since been released on bail until Wednesday, 29th November.
