Man charged after carrying 'offensive weapon' on West End street
A man has been arrested for carrying an "offensive weapon" on a street in Crewe, with a knife and an extendable baton seized by police.
On Monday 11 September, Cheshire Police received reports of males "acting suspiciously" on Preece Court, just off West Street.
At around 7:30pm, response officers quickly arrived at the location, with a group of youths running away from the scene.
Two members of the group were detained for a stop search.
An extendable baton was located by officers as well as a knife, found on the floor from where the youths ran from.
Jake Davies, 18, of Henry Street, was arrested in the area on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and has been charged with the offence.
He has been released on bail and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates Court on Thursday 5 October.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "On Monday 11 September, we received reports of males acting suspiciously near an address just off West Street.
"Response officers attended the property on a grade one response, and a group of youths starburst.
"Two members of the group were detained for a stop search.
"An extendable baton was located, as well as a knife on the floor where they ran from.
"A male was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon."
