Major Crewe road closes for one week allowing new development
A major road in Crewe is closed for one week, allowing for the start of a £8.3 million development on the edge of the town centre.
Oak Street, from the junction of Edleston Road to Oak Street Roundabout, is closed from Monday 6 January.
It is expected to reopen on Monday 13 January, allowing hoarding works to take place for the new Crewe Youth Zone.
Opening its doors in spring 2026, Crewe Youth Zone, named 'The Dome,' will be an independent charity with a private sector-led board.
Crewe Youth Zone will be part of the current OnSide Network of 15 Youth Zones nationwide, supporting more than 55,000 young people every year.
Youth Zones are open to young people aged between eight and 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs), seven days a week, for just 50p a visit.
The development will create permanent full and part-time jobs, as well as many volunteering opportunities.
During the temporary closure, motorists will be diverted via: Wistaston Road, Dunwoody Way, West Street, Vernon Way, Earle Street Roundabout, Vernon Way Roundabout and vice versa.
If you have any enquiries relating to the works, please contact Caddick Construction on 01925 640890.
