An annual local village 'Duck Race and Children's Model Boat Race' is set to make a welcome return - following two years of COVID-19 pandemic cancellations.

The Wistaston event will take place on Saturday (September 10) - at the Joey the Swan recreation ground.

There will be stalls and fun games open from 1pm. Admission to the event is free.

The Wistaston Children's model boat race takes place at 2:30pm on Saturday - September 10 (Jonathan White).

The duck and children's model boat race event is organised by volunteer members of the Wistaston Community village events team.

A representative from Wistaston Community Council said: "Please come and support this popular event.

"We hope that it will be a quacking success and raise much needed money for our local community charities and towards financing our other village events for everyone to enjoy."

There are prizes for the three competitions that children can enter.

Participants are encouraged to start building their boats now.

The Wistaston 'Duck Race and Children's Model Boat Race' will take place at the Joey the Swan recreation ground (Wistaston Community Council).

The Three Competitions Are:

  • 1. Best designed, homemade, children's model boat - judging at 2:10pm.
  • 2. Children's model boat race - starts at 2:30pm.
  • 3. The Duck Race - starts at 3:15pm.

Duck Race tickets are £1 each (ducks are available on the day).

The Wistaston Community events team always welcomes new members to help organise the Wistaston village events - including the Flower and Produce Show next Saturday (August 20).

There will also be a Fireworks Display on Bonfire Night (November 5) and a December Christmas Concert (date to be announced).

The local 'Duck Race and Children's Model Boat Race' event makes a long-awaited return after the COVID-19 pandemic (Wistaston Community Council).
