A British leisure operator chain is set to remain Crewe for the foreseeable future, after submitting plans to change the layout of its store.

This May, Mecca Bingo submitted a premises license application on behalf of its Phoenix Leisure Park unit, off Dunwoody Way.

The bingo hall, which recently closed sites in Stoke-on Trent and Chester, has confirmed it will be staying open in Crewe.

Mecca Bingo has been operating on Crewe's Phoenix Leisure Park since 2005 (Nub News).

Mecca Bingo wants to block off the door between the amusements and book sales, as well as removing one section of bingo seating.

This will allow the self-serve Mecca Max to be relocated from book sales into the hall, with a new balustrade bar installed in the bar lounge.

The licensing application is on display at unit three of Phoenix Leisure Park, which has occupied Mecca Bingo since 2005.

Mecca Bingo's premises license application reads: "Notice is hereby given that Mecca Bingo Limited in respect of premises known as Mecca Bingo, Unit 3, Phoenix Leisure Park, Dunwoody Way, Crewe, has applied to Cheshire East Council for a minor variation of a Premises Licence.

"The proposed variation is to seek approval of the plan submitted with the application, which can be viewed upon request.

"This is to make alterations, blocking-off the door between amusements and book sales as well as removing one section of bingo seating.

Mecca Bingo which recently closed sites in Stoke-on Trent (pictured), and Chester, has confirmed it will be staying open in Crewe (Nub News).

"This is so the self-serve Mecca Max can be relocated from book sales into the hall, with the addition of a balustrade bar in the bar lounge."

Representations to Mecca Bingo's application shall be made in writing to Cheshire East Council Licensing Section on or before Friday 24 May.

You can also submit your representation by emailing: [email protected].
