Crewe Town Council has confirmed Krazy Races will return to the town on Sunday 24 May 2026, following record crowds and more than 20 team entries at 2025's soapbox derby.

The free-to-attend event, which sees teams design and race handmade soapbox karts, has quickly become one of Crewe's most popular days out.

Applications are now open for teams, sponsors, and charities to take part next year.

Brooklands will again be transformed into an event village with food stalls, family entertainment, and a giant screen showing live race action (Peter Robinson).

Organisers are seeking between 20 and 40 teams from local businesses, schools, colleges, charities, and community groups. Previous entrants have included Crewe Lyceum Theatre, AO, and Crewe Heritage Centre.

Charities remain central to the event, with local organisations now able to apply to become headline partners and use the day to raise funds and showcase their work.

The course will once again run from Ford Lane, round the Broad Street bend, through Brooklands and across the finish line before Badger Avenue.

Organisers say the 2026 track will include new features to build on this year's additions, which included an "up-and-over" ramp, smoke effects, and other surprises.

A spokesperson for Crewe Town Council said: "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Krazy Races to Crewe again in May 2026 after so many calls from residents and visitors to bring the event back.

"This event brings such a vibrant energy to the town, celebrating creativity, community spirit, and good old-fashioned fun.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors alike to come together and enjoy a truly unique day out.

"We can't wait to see what wild and wonderful creations take to the track."

Head of Brand and Strategic Development for Krazy Races, Danny Scoffin, said: "Crewe made it clear, Krazy Races had to return. The atmosphere in 2025 was electric, and we can't wait to top it in 2026.

'"We want to give a huge thanks to the incredible team at Crewe Town Council for investing in our event and being amazing partners every step of the way for a third year.

"They do so much for Crewe, and as a resident myself, I am delighted we get to run this event in partnership with them for the amazing people of Crewe.

"Whether you are a team, charity, or sponsor, now is your chance to be part of Crewe's biggest ever Krazy Races."

Team and charity applications are open now via the Krazy Races website.
