Top Gear star visits Crewe restaurant to promote premium gin
By Ryan Parker 30th Jul 2026
Former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter James May visited The Broughton in Crewe to promote his premium 'James Gin' range.
This week, May shared a video from outside the Newcastle Road restaurant before heading inside, where the gin is stocked.
May was filmed at The Broughton, describing Crewe as the "historic home of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars and now of another great British invention."
Operated by the Parogon Group, The Broughton opened in October 2021, following the restoration and redevelopment of the former Broughton Arms.
May who described The Broughton as an "establishment of great taste," for serving his gin, said the restaurant is "housed in a rather splendid contemporary building."
The Broughton blends the site's 150-year-old frontage with a modern dining space and serves a menu of classic dishes, alongside Asian-inspired flavours.
May launched James Gin in 2023, with the range now stocked by restaurants and bars across the UK.
The Broughton is open 12pm to 10pm (Sunday to Friday) and 12pm to 11pm (Saturday).
