Investigation 'launched' following two Crewe car fires in quick succession

Cheshire Police has launched an investigation following the suspected arson of two cars in Crewe, taking place in two locations within three hours of each other.

On Thursday 30 January, emergency services were alerted to car fires in Crewe West and St Barnabas wards in the early hours.

The first incident, on West Street, happened at 3.03am with one fire engine from Crewe called to a vehicle well alight.

The vehicle fires were put out with hose reel jets, with both sustaining severe damage (Ryan Parker).

Then at 5.49am, Crewe firefighters tackled a serious car blaze on Rolls Avenue.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "We can confirm both incidents are being treated as suspicious and an investigation has been launched.

"At this time, officers are keeping an open mind as to whether they are linked and enquiries are ongoing.

Cheshire Police has launched an investigation into the two Crewe car fire incidents (Cheshire Police).
