I have been busy championing Crewe and Nantwich in Parliament.
Recently I held a Westminster Hall debate on Crewe's bid for the Great British Railways headquarters ahead of the public vote which will come in May.
I was joined by MPs across the region highlighting the connectivity, heritage and local rail industry as key strengths in our bid. When the time comes, I will be asking local residents to back our bid and help us secure the win for Crewe.
And then on Cheshire Day, I and other Cheshire MPs held 'A Taste of Cheshire' event in Parliament. I, along with local MPs Edward Timpson, Fiona Bruce and David Rutley invited local food and drink businesses down to Parliament to showcase the best of Cheshire produce.
The day was a great success, with lots of people coming to speak to local businesses. We even had visits from the Prime Minister, the Chancellor, Farming Minister, Health Minister and Deputy Speaker as well as many MPs from across the country. The room was jam packed with queues along the corridor.
The event gave the opportunity for local businesses to raise the challenges and successes of the past couple of years with ministers and colleagues. It also gave businesses a chance to chat about their plans for the future.
I was proud to invite down a great mix of local businesses.
Mornflake is the fourth oldest private owned company in the UK and have been milling oats in Cheshire for over 340 years and sponsor lots of good causes locally.
The Cheshire Pie Co have a farm shop at Dagfields and the business dates back to 1935, producing a range of different delicious pies. I can personally recommend the chicken, ham and leek pie!
The Cheshire Biltong Company are a husband and wife led outfit from Weston that produces a wide range of cured meats, including an exotic range which includes Kangaroo, Ostrich and even Zebra.
Mrs Darlington's, was started by Marion Darlington in the 1980s and they now produce over 50 jams, chutneys, sauces and more exporting globally, and finally the Eatlean brand from Joseph Heler which is a new high protein, low calorie and low-fat cheese.
They were joined by a range of food and drink producers from across Cheshire including Ice cream, gin, cakes, cheese and beer.
I want to say a massive thank you to all of the businesses who attended the event, it was brilliant to see so many people getting involved and getting local businesses names and produce out there championing what Cheshire and Crewe and Nantwich has to offer.
