Improvement in condition of man who suffered serious injuries in Crewe 'knife attack'

POLICE say a man who was attacked in Crewe on Monday afternoon is now in a "stable" condition in hospital.

The 44-year-old suffered serious injuries at a property in Walthall Street. It was said he was hit on the head as well suffering an arm injury, believed to have been caused by a knife.

The victim was initially reported to be in a "critical" condition after the incident which took place shortly after 1pm.

Detectives are appealing for information as well as CCTV or dash cam footage.

Local councillors Connor Naismith and Marilyn Houston backed up the appeal and said: "Knife crime is a real issue. We will continue to work with police and the community to take preventative steps where possible."
