House sets on fire in Crewe started from electric shower fault
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house fire in Crewe over the weekend - believed to have been started from an electrical shower fault.
The incident was reported on Ashcroft Avenue, Shavington, yesterday (June 26) at 2:18pm.
Two fire engines attended the scene, with one from Crewe and one from Nantwich.
A Rapid Response Rescue Unit was also deployed from Nantwich to the incident.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Crews were called to reports of a house fire involving an electric shower.
"Firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, and used a large fan to disperse the smoke.
"Crews removed the shower and part of the bathroom ceiling to prevent further fires from starting.
"A thermal imaging camera was also used to monitor the loft space above."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the occupant of the house was left in the care of paramedics.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service encourages residents to create a home fire escape plan - in case of an emergency situation in their homes.
Elsewhere in Crewe, firefighters had to put out a bonfire in woodland off Minshull New Road, yesterday (June 26).
The incident was reported at 5:31pm - believed to have been started by teenagers.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters used a water backpack to put out a small bonfire in woodland, believed to have been started by a group of young people."
