CREWE Alex boss Dave Artell is urging people to back a fundraising appeal set up to help a young Academy player fighting a cancer battle.
Ashton Hulme, Crewe's Under-12 keeper, was diagnosed with the rare bone cancer Osteosarcoma at the end of last year and began chemotherapy treatment this week.
Donations to a JustGiving page set up by friends of Ashton's family have already reached over £14,000.
The Crewe manager says high-profile names from across the world of sport have lent their support to the 12-year-old by featuring in goodwill messages to lift his spirits and those of his family.
"We've got some unbelievable videos. It's a terrific gesture from all these famous people to take time out of their day and we are really thankful," said Artell.
"Ashton has got a real tough few months ahead of him, but we are right behind him.
"There's a JustGiving page and I would say if you haven't already helped the family out then please do so.
"We're all hoping he comes through this, he's a fighter and a kid with a real great personality. He's a bubbly boy and his attitude will help him to meet this challenge head on."
If you can make a donation then go to the fundraising page at JustGiving
Card and messages can also be sent to Ashton and his family, addressed to: Aidan Callan, Reasheath, Alexandra Park, Wettenhall Road, Nantwich, CW5 6DF.
