Grassroots football: 7 up for new Sunday leaders Broadhurst as Crewe FC win in cup

BROADHURST are the new leaders of the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGE after a 7-2 thumping of Raven Salvador.

Dom Johnson and Tom Hassall both scored twice with the other goals coming from Adam Ireland, Scott Ravenscroft and Steven Jenyons. Tom Glover and Jordan Smith replied for Raven.

Third-placed Betley FC won 4-1 at Faddiley with goals from Keiran Duckers, Josh Briggs, Zac Saardouni and an own goal. Rich Ryan scored for Faddiley.

A flurry of goals just before half time saw Cheshire Cheese open up a 2-1 lead over Willaston White Star which they held on for the win. Scorers for Cheshire Cheese were Alex Forrester and Aaron Davies with Pawel Abramowicz scoring for White Star.

Talbot FC and NHB FC drew 1-1 with Danny Jones scoring for Talbot and Alex Ball for NHB FC.

In Division One both Winsford Over 3 and Sandbach Town took advantage of results elsewhere to move up the table.

Winsford Over 3 registered a 6-3 success at C & N UTD thanks to a hat-trick from Thomas Stanton. The goals came from Jamie Dawson, Will Igoe and Matthew Stanton. Scorers for C & N UTD were Rhys Bennett and Jack Cope, whose brace included a great strike from the halfway line.

Sandbach Town beat Leighton 4-2 to move above their opponents in the table. Lewis Barker (2), Jamie Knowlson and Lewis

Renshaw scored for Sandbach with Ryan Ollier and Brad Griffiths replying for a Leighton FC.

Tom Royle fired in four times as White Horse beat Nantwich Pirates. Mike White got the other Horse goal and Joey Hilton replied for the Pirates.

Several teams were involved in the Cheshire FA Sunday Cup with Willaston White Star and Nantwich Pirates receiving

walkovers to the next round.

George & Dragon won 2-1 at Wirral based JASGA FC whilst JS Bailey lost 6-1 at another Wirral based side PLCC FC. Audlem lost a close game 4-3 at FC Dukinfield.

CREWE FC were in action in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup at Ellesmere Port Town on Saturday. Goals from PJ Hudson, Nathan Southern and Shannon Sinnott secured the Cumberland Arena side a 3-1 win.

They return to Cheshire League action hosting Poynton on October 16 (Saturday) needing to make up ground as they currently stand second from bottom of the table, although they have played the least number of games (eight) in the division.

Louie McGarry and Luke Gillan netted braces for Crewe FC's reserves in a 5-2 win over Golborne Sports. Jack Gater got the other goal and the win keeps the reserve side second in their division.
