Two girls have been reported to the police by members of the public - walking around a Crewe park wearing purge masks and carrying fake knives.

The incident at Queens Park was reported to Cheshire Police today (October 24) at 12:44pm.

A local resident saw the two girls walking around the Crewe park close to the play area.

Two girls were seen wearing purge masks and carrying fake knives in Queens Park (Amy Pollard).

Miss Amy Pollard posted pictures of the two girls wearing purge masks on social media - telling people what had happened.

She said: "Does anyone recognise these two girls?

"They are walking around Queens Park with a fake knife wearing purge masks.

"A bit inappropriate while there are a lot of young kids around.

"It's been reported to the police."

A local resident saw the two girls walking around the Crewe park close to the play area (Amy Pollard).

This afternoon, Cheshire Constabulary confirmed to Nub News it had received a report from the public.

A spokesperson said: "At 12.44pm today, Monday 24 October, police were called to reports of two girls wearing Halloween costumes and intimidating members of the public at Queens Park, Crewe.

"Officers attended and found no trace of the youths and no sign of a disturbance."

This incident has caused a large divide on social media.

Some Crewe residents believed reporting the incident to Cheshire Police was wrong (Cheshire Constabulary).

Some local residents took to social media - believing reporting the incident to police was wrong.

Crewe resident Kyle Edge said: "Unfortunately I can't agree with this unless they were actually causing issues via verbal abuse or running after kids on purpose to scare them.

"If they're just walking around like that, so what?

"It's nearly Halloween and they could be doing much worse stuff really.

Crewe Police officers attended and found no trace of the youths and no sign of a disturbance (Crewe Police).

"It's easily spotted as a fake knife too, you can tell it's plastic so why bother?"

The two girls were not found by Crewe Police.
