A funeral has been held for a 'much-loved' Crewe firefighter and dad - following a brave two-year battle with cancer.

Ken Wong, 44, worked at Crewe Fire Brigade and sadly died from cancer on Tuesday 18 April.

The husband of Gretta Wong and father-of-two to Louie and Leo Wong, was previously stationed at Northfield Green in Birmingham and Atherstone in Warwickshire.

A service was held at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, St Mary's Street on Friday 12 May at 12pm.

This was followed by a cremation at Crewe Crematorium.

Chief fire officer and chief executive of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Alex Waller, described Mr Wong as "an excellent firefighter, a popular colleague and a much-loved friend".

Mr Waller said: "The way in which he lived with his illness has been an inspiration to everyone who knew him.

"This includes those on his watch and station who have closely supported him and his family over the last year."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and we are here to support them all in whatever capacity we can.
