Former Crewe Alexandra football player Steve Jones is the latest celebrity to sign up a for charity football match - held at Crewe's Alexandra's stadium next month.

The Sellebrity Soccer event will be held at The Mornflake Stadium on May 1 - raising funds for Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

It will include the likes of Soccer AM presenter Tubes, X Factor winner Shane Ward, TOWIE stars Dan Osborne and James Argent and former Crewe Alex player Steve Walters.

The Sellebrity Soccer charity match will be held at The Mornflake Stadium on May 1 (Ryan Parker).

Within the past month, former Crewe Alexandra player Steve Jones signed up for the event - adding to the list of famous names.

The former right winger and striker made 162 appearance for the Alex in two different spells, scoring 40 goals.

Steve Jones told Nub News: "I signed up for this because it's for a great charity - Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

"This means everything to me. My kids have been in hospital when they were younger and the staff did a fantastic job, so to give something back is the least I could do."

Steve Jones highly respects the Alder Hey Children's Hospital (Jonathan White).

Jones is looking forward to playing with celebrity Calum Best at the event, late George Best's son and from Northern Ireland like himself.

The 45-year-old added: "The lineups are amazing to be honest. I will be honoured and privileged to play alongside them.

"I will get pride that I am helping in some way to help the hospital and also get a bit of fitness."

Also showing off their football skills at Crewe, will be Eastenders stars Jake Wood, Dean Gaffney, Matt Lapinskas and Danny Hatchard along with The Real Housewives of Cheshire cast member Joe Sealey.

Last month, Crewe Alex Hospitality and Events Manager, Leanne Edmonds told Nub News: "The team here at Crewe Alexandra Football Club are looking forward to hosting the Sellebrity Soccer game at Mornflake Stadium on Sunday 1st May.

"With an array of celebrities donning football boots instead of their usual day jobs, it should make for a great day of entertainment for the whole family.

"There is the opportunity to meet some of the celebrities within the VIP package, which includes a VIP seat and VIP lounge access for pre-match, half time and post-match.

"You will have the opportunity to meet a minimum of 10 celebrity players post match In the VIP lounge."

The game will kick off at 3pm, with the doors opening for the event at 1:30pm.

Standard tickets are priced at £12 per person alongside an additional booking fee.

Attenders can upgrade to a VIP package for £30 per person.
