EMPLOYERS across Crewe are being encouraged to take part in a virtual jobs fair.
A host of organisations are teaming up to support people looking for work as the economy faces challenges during lockdown.
With news of local redundancies at Bentley and other employers and concerns over predictions of other job losses Dr Kieran Mullan MP says he is working with Cheshire and Warrington Pledge and Local Enterprise Partnership, Cheshire East Council, Job Centre Plus and the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce to run the online jobs fair under the Cheshire Works 4 U programme.
"I am very glad that these fantastic partner organisations are coming together to support Crewe and Nantwich residents who are either looking for work or at risk of redundancy," said the MP.
"Of course there may also be others simply looking to take the next step forward in their careers. We may not be able to help everyone who is out of work or whose job is at risk, but working together in this way will make sure we can help as many people as we can."
The event takes place on Wednesday, August 26 at 10am on the Learn Live platform see here.
Registration for potential job applicants opens shortly but in the meantime the MP has encouraged local employers to come forward if they are recruiting.
"We know it is a difficult time for some businesses, but in other areas of the economy we are seeing growth so I would encourage employers who are looking for staff to get in touch and take part," he added.
"I'd particularly encourage local independent employers to take part who might not have the recruitment resources of bigger companies. Help us to help you. We already have a wide range of employers offering a wide range of roles so any role of any kind is welcome."
There is no cost to employers to take part and it gives them the opportunity to share a video promoting the roles they are recruiting to. They can also be added to the listings of job opportunities that will go up on the day.
Employers can take part live to answer questions from participants about the roles they are offering. The whole event is recorded to allow for people to view the resources afterwards if they can't take part on the day.
As well as the virtual jobs fair people will be able to view the roles being offered in person throughout the day at Dr Kieran Mullan's office in Crewe (249 Edleston Road, Crewe, CW2 7EA) as well as a location in Nantwich to be confirmed.
Employers interested can register online via or can contact the MP's office on 01270 583 432 or email him at [email protected] with any queries about the event.
