Firefighters were called to put out a "deliberately" started car fire in a field near Haslington yesterday evening (9 December).

A crew from Sandbach was called to the scene in the Clay Lane area at around 7:42pm where they found a BMW 1 Series "well alight".

A spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire Service said: "A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. The car was then damped down to make it safe."

The crew was at the scene for around 30 minutes and police are now investigating the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident has been urged to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 quoting IML 869962, or give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report.
