FIFEFIGHTERS were called out to two incidents in Gainsborough Road yesterday, one of which saw them rescue a man off a roof.

One fire crew attended around 9.30am after a report that someone was stuck on a roof.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "A seven-metre ladder was used to reach the person who was led safely on the ground firefighters left the scene."

Later in the afternoon a crew was called out again to the area to tackle a wheelie bin which had caught fire after some hot ashes had been put in it.

Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. There were no reports of any injuries.
