At 9:51am this morning (Thursday 4 March), fire crews were called to a house on Frank Bott Avenue to investigate reports of smoke coming from a house.

Two fire engines - one from Crewe, the other from Nantwich - attended the scene, and found that the smoke was issuing from burning ivy at the side of the house.

The crews checked the attic and cut away at the ivy to check for hot spots. The smoke has now died down and the ivy has since been removed.

A man at the property was checked by paramedics as a precaution.
