Fire crews work through night dousing Shavington house blaze

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

FIRE crews spent 10 hours fighting a fire which engulfed a roof space at a property in Shavington.

Five fire engines, two from Crewe, one from Nantwich, one from Northwich and one from Sandbach were called to reports of what was initially a chimney fire at a house on Main Road at around 7.30 last night.

But the fire officers found that the fire had spread to the roof space of the property and had to remove tiles to stop the flames from spreading further.

One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames and a thermal imaging camera was deployed to check areas for hot spots.
