Fire crews called to Crewe tyre blaze in suspected arson

Fire crews responded to a tyre blaze close to Crewe's Leighton Hospital, with the incident believed to be an act of arson.
On Monday 29 June, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to an incident near Middlewich Road.
At 8.10pm, two fire engines from Nantwich and Middlewich, as well as a Rapid Response Rescue Unit from Nantwich, arrived at the scene.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out the flames, with the surrounding area dampened down.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, Cheshire Police were informed.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to a tyre on fire in Crewe.
"The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet, and the surrounding area was dampened down.
"A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for hotspots.
"Police were informed of this incident"
