Fire crews tackle Crewe bin blazes in trio of arson attacks

Fire crews were called to three bin blazes in Crewe across a period of four hours over the weekend, believed to be acts of arson.

On Sunday 6 April, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to bin fires in the West End and town centre areas.

Around 2.29pm, one fire engine from Crewe attended an incident near St Paul's Street.

Just 25 minutes later, firefighters extinguished a blaze in a bin on Victoria Street.

Later on, at 6.18pm, firefighters put out flames in a wheelie bin on West Street.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish wheelie bin fires in Crewe.

"They are believed to have been started deliberately."

Cheshire Police have been notified of the bin fire incidents.
