Cheshire Police enquiries are currently "ongoing" after a firearm was found dumped in a bag in Crewe South.

On Thursday 7 November, officers received a call of concern from a member of the public.

Police were deployed to the Davenport Avenue area, discovering a black rifle disposed of in a bag in the street.

Officers are now appealing for information on how the weapon may have got there.

Cheshire Police are now appealing for information on how the rifle may have gotten there (Cheshire Police).

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers have recovered a firearm from the Crewe South area after a call by a member of the public.

"A black rifle was located and recovered, discarded in a bag In the Davenport Avenue area.

"Enquiries are ongoing, and if you have any information contact police, quoting IML 1955565."
