Emergency services rush to car 'well alight' on road in Crewe

Emergency services rushed to a car 'well alight' on a road in Crewe - with all occupants leaving the vehicle before it started.

The incident on Church Lane, Wistaston, happened at 1:48pm on Thursday (December 8).

One fire engine from Crewe and Cheshire Police officers quickly arrived at the scene.

Cheshire Police officers assisted firefighters with road closures and traffic management during the incident.

All occupants inside the vehicle exited before the fire started.

Crewe firefighters used a hose jet reel to put out the car fire.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A car was well alight on Church Lane in Crewe.

"Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Cheshire Police were in attendance at the car fire incident (Cheshire Constabulary).

"All occupants had left the vehicle before the fire started. Police were also in attendance."

Today (December 9), Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the incident to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called to assist Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service with road closures and traffic management following a car fire on Church Lane."
