Emergency services called after truck and car collide at Crewe junction

Emergency services were called after a police recovery truck and car collided at a junction in Crewe, with a casualty taken to hospital after being trapped in their vehicle.
On Thursday 25 April, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on Crewe Road, near to its junction with Gateway.
At 4:42pm, officers arrived at the scene, discovering a collision involving a white Iveco truck and a red Peugeot 2008.
A casualty was found to be trapped in the Peugeot, which sustained serious front damage, with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service called to the scene.
They were rescued from the vehicle and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 4:42pm on Thursday 25 April, police were called to a collision on Crewe Road, near to the junction of Gateway.
"The collision involved two cars, a red Peugeot 2008 and a white Iveco truck.
"There were no reports of any life threatening injuries, but the road was closed while officers dealt with the incident.
"The scene was cleared by 7.40pm."
Two fire engines from Crewe responded to the incident, with the collision affecting traffic for around three hours.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews worked to release a casualty trapped in one of the vehicles.
"Firefighters used cutting tools to remove the roof of the vehicle and safely remove the casualty.
"They were passed into the care of paramedics and were transported to hospital."
