Do first snowdrops herald the start of spring in Crewe?

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

SNOWDROPS have started to emerge in and around Crewe despite the January torrential rain, floods and, ironically, snow.

Traditionally the first flower of the year, snowdrops have come to symbolise hope, as well as a sign of spring being just around the corner.

Wistaston-based photographer Jonathan says clumps and carpets of the small, white, bell-shaped flowers have already been seen in Crewe, Wistaston and Willaston.

Some crocuses and daffodils have also started to emerge.

Jonathan reminded: "People can enjoy the snowdrops and other flowers during their permitted local daily exercise walk."
