Dad, 30, dies in Crewe motorbike crash following police chase

A local dad has died in motorbike crash following a police chase in Crewe, with the fatal incident referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

On Wednesday 27 May, a BMW motorcycle came to the attention of Cheshire Police due to the "manner of driving."

At around 8.50pm, the motorcycle was involved in a fatal crash with a Nissan Juke on Dunwoody Way, close to the entrance of Phoenix Leisure Park.

The rider of the vehicle, a 30-year-old man, died at the scene.

Police swiftly closed off Dunwoody Way and the entrance to Phoenix Leisure Park, lasting until the early hours of the morning (May 28).

The driver of the Nissan, a 42-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 8.50pm on Wednesday 27 May, a BMW motorcycle came to the attention of officers in the Crewe area due to the manner of driving.

"The vehicle was subsequently involved in a collision with a red Nissan Juke on Dunwoody Way.

"Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a 30-year-old man, died at the scene.

"The driver of the Nissan, a 42-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

"Owing to the presence of a police vehicle at the time of the collision, and in line with normal procedures, it has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)."

While dealing with the fatal incident, police took down a bollard by Mecca Bingo and let leisure park customers in vehicles depart the site towards Edleston Road only.

Pedestrians were told to leave the park via the steps towards Chester Street.
