Crime figures for Crewe show West Street and garage hotspots

THERE were 57 violent and sexual crimes reported to police in Crewe town centre during December.

Policing figures released show in total there were 171 crimes reported during the month with hot spots on Casson Street off West Street, in and around Lyceum Square and near the Tesco garage on Vernon Way.

In all there were 46 reports of anti-social behaviour, 25 offences of public order and 11 cases of shoplifting during the month in the town centre area.

Police.uk crime maps show how crime is concentrated in areas of towns. Dale Way off Dunwoody Way had 10 crimes reported, including four of anti-social behaviour as well as three violent and sexual offences and one burglary.

There were six crimes reported on or near the Tesco petrol station, including two incidents of anti-social behaviour, two public order offences and one theft.

In Hill Street (near Lyceum Square) there were six reported crimes and four reported near the theatre.

Crewe East, which includes Sydney, Maw Green and Coppenhall, saw 155 crimes reported with eight around Cherry Tree Road and Maple Grove.

There were 61 crimes reported in Shavington and Rope and 37 crimes reported in the Leighton area during December.

Of the 38 crimes reported in the Haslington and Weston area, 17 of them involved violent and sexual offences.

While in Wistaston and Willaston police dealt with 31 reported incidents including 15 of violent and sexual offences, six involving anti-social behaviour and three cases of criminal damage and arson.
