Crewe Town Council has completed the purchase of the neighbouring office property at Chantry Court, in a new expansion.

The additional building on Forge Street will help the council increase its operational capacity, improve accessibility for residents, and create more flexible working space for staff, councillors, visiting partners and members of the public.

Essential improvement works are now underway, including roof replacement following longstanding leaks, ensuring the building is protected and fit for long term use.

This investment reflects the growing role of town councils as opportunities around devolution and local service delivery continue to develop.

Crewe Town Council says it wants to position itself to play a "greater part" in delivering services closer to residents, working with partners, and responding directly to local priorities.

Leader of Crewe Town Council, Cllr Jill Rhodes, said: "This investment will provide improved working space for staff and better accessibility for residents.

"It also reflects the changing role of town councils, with opportunities to take on more local services and respond directly to community needs.

"Purchasing the neighbouring property allows us to expand responsibly while maintaining a visible and accessible presence in the heart of Crewe."

Crewe Town Council says it will continue to manage the building works and future use of the expanded offices "responsibly, " ensuring value for money and clear benefits for the people of Crewe.
