The Candle Shop at Crewe, Market Shopping Centre, confirmed its closure on Friday (January 13).

This chain store, specialising in Yankee Candles, officially opened in Crewe back in winter 2014.

The Candle Shop blamed its Crewe closure on 'the current retail climate' and 'high energy costs' (Ryan Parker).

After being open in Crewe for eight years, The Candle Shop said it could no longer continue in South Cheshire.

A social media statement read: "It is with heart felt sadness that we will now no longer be trading from our Crewe Shop.

"We would like to thank our loyal customers who have supported the business over the years and hope you will continue to shop with us at our other shops in Affinity Talke and The Candle Shop, Trentham.

"We are sad to be leaving the centre as we have enjoyed trading here but the current retail climate and high energy costs have sadly made it untenable."

The Candle Shop joins chains, River Island, Clintons, Roman Originals and BrightHouse in leaving the Market Shopping Centre in recent years.

This closure means three of the Crewe shopping centre's units are empty.

The closest Candle Shop to Crewe is now Talke Scents, Freeport, Staffordshire - 10 miles away (Ryan Parker).
