A Crewe town centre dessert chain has temporarily closed, allowing works for an "exciting" collaboration with a new burger outlet.

Little Dessert Shop, Market Street, placed a 'closed till further noice' sign on its front window on Tuesday 2 January.

The unit is currently undergoing major renovation work to reopen as a Little Dessert Shop and Betsy's Burgers store this spring.

Betsy's Burgers is an American-style chain, taking inspiration from Brooklyn's multi-cultural vibe.

The eatery serves a large variety of smash burgers, as well as breakfasts, chicken, hot dogs, dirty fries, milkshakes, sides, drinks and vegan options.

After opening its first store in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Betsy's Burgers has since expanded to Wednesfield and Lichfield.

Franchisee, Mohammed Zahid, runs Stoke's Little Dessert Shop and Betsy's, with the stores set to come under the same roof in Crewe this January.

A Little Dessert Shop Stoke member of staff told Nub News: "Crewe can expect an exciting new Little Dessert Shop and Betsy's Burgers collaboration later this January.

After opening its first store in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Betsy's Burgers has since expanded to Wednesfield and Lichfield (Betsy's Burgers).

"Crewe's Little Dessert Shop is currently closed while major works take place inside the unit.

"It is expected to reopen within the next two weeks."
