A CREWE-BASED tech firm has been named as one of the best companies for work-life balance in the UK.
Radius Payment Solutions - which has offices at Emporer Way at Crewe Business Park and Herald Drive off Macon Way - is listed 13th in a top 20 compiled by jobs review website Glassdoor to find out where staff can enjoy a healthy compromise between their personal lives and work.
Thousands of anonymous employee reviews were analysed to determine the list, which was headed by the Office of National Statistics, which is headquartered in Newport in South Wales.
Radius, which provides a free gym and a computer gaming room among its on-site staff facilities, features among the top 20 employers alongside companies such as Mastercard and the Bank of England and is listed two places higher than Google.
Radius CEO Bill Holmes said: "It is a really nice accolade for the company after what has been a difficult couple of years for the employees in every industry across the UK.
"I personally appreciate having good separation between home and work and have always tried to keep that as a core part of the company culture."
Glassdoor used employees' ratings for their company on a number of factors awarding each a rating from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 5 (very satisfied).
Meanwhile research from the company also found an increase in burnout among the UK workforce generally.
Lauren Thomas, an economist at Glassdoor, says employees are now feeling the impact of 18 months of change and mentions of burnout [in reviews] increased 128 per cent since April 2021, which suggested some employers are not fully meeting the needs of their workforce.
Those that are in the top 20 are dominated by tech companies like Radius with Softcat, Arm, Dell Technologies, Sage and SAP making appearances.
The economist added: "Employee reviews on Glassdoor indicate that the companies that top the work-life balance rankings offer a range of options to help workers harmonize their home and professional lives.
'Whether it is the autonomy to set one's schedule, hybrid working policies or simply trust shown by management that work will be delivered without being tied to an office, it is clear that a healthy balance is best achieved when employees can individualise their approach to work."
The reviews praise Sky Betting & Gaming's wellbeing programme and Softcat who offer flexible start and finish times and job-share opportunities.
According to Glassdoor data, both now and pre-Covid, tech is ranked as the best industry for work-life balance. Hospitality, retail and travel offered the lowest work-life balance scores in 2021 and before the pandemic began.
