Crewe suffer major injury blow with match-winner ruled out for 'few weeks'
Crewe Alexandra have suffered another major injury blow - with a recent match-winner sidelined for a 'few weeks' with a hamstring injury.
Charlie Colkett limped off after striking a brilliant winner against Tranmere Rovers on New Year's Day.
After scoring in the 34th minute, the midfielder was substituted for Joel Tabiner in the 55th minute.
Colkett now faces a period in the treatment room with a hamstrung injury.
Crewe Alexandra manager, Lee Bell, was disappointed with the latest injury news for his side.
Bell told Crewe Alexandra's website: "Charlie is going to be missing for a few weeks with his hamstring.
"We were hoping the outlook would be better than it has turned out to be."
Colkett has been restricted to just 10 appearances since signing for Crewe from Cheltenham Town last summer.
The 26-year-old suffered a more serious hamstring injury in August keeping the former Chelsea youth out until early November.
Colkett's latest injury means Crewe's injury list is stacking up again - despite the return of Callum Ainley against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday (January 7).
Billy Sass-Davies is currently managing an ankle injury to ensure he is soon available for selection.
Courtney Baker-Richardson (hamstring), Christopher Long (ankle) and Zac Williams (hamstring) are also out.
The trio are working hard to return to action but are still some way off a first-team return.
Next up: Crewe Alexandra face an away trip at Mansfield Town on Saturday (January 14).
