Crewe shop and takeaway hit with two-star food hygiene ratings

A Crewe convenience store and takeaway have been hit with two-star food hygiene ratings, according to recent Food Standard Agency (FSA) reports.
The FSA Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is aimed at helping people choose where to eat out or shop for food.
This scheme is in partnership with local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

It gives businesses a rating from 0 to 5 - displayed at their premises and online.
A two-star hygiene rating means 'some improvement is necessary' for the British frozen food and grocery supermarket.
All information was taken from the Food Standard Agency website as of Thursday 12 June.
- Asian and Continental Grocery Shop, 33 Hungerford Road - Two-Star (9 April, 2025)

- Tasty World, 252 Edleston Road - Two-Star - (10 March, 2025)

A food safety officer from Cheshire East Council inspected the Crewe shop and takeaway to check they were following food hygiene law, ensuring food sold was safe to eat.
At all inspections, the officer checked the following three elements:
- Hygienic food handling - improvement necessary (both)
- Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - good (Asian and Continental Grocery Shop) and generally satisfactory (Tasty World)
- Management of food safety - generally satisfactory (Both)
Asian and Continental Grocery Shop and Tasty World were rated two-star based on these checks.
