A major UK footwear retailer has closed down on Crewe's retail park, with the store set to relocate into a former burger restaurant chain.

The footwear chain will not be leaving Crewe, relocating into the former retail park Burger Priest restaurant unit, next door to Costa Coffee.

Alteration works have been going on at the former Chiquito since May, with next door's old Bella Italia restaurant set to open up as The Works.

A date for this Shoe Zone relocation is yet to be confirmed, but is expected within the coming months.

A Shoe Zone spokesperson told Nub News: "We can confirm the store will be relocating and we'll be sharing full updates on the opening in due course."

Once Shoe Zone's current unit has been cleared, a new retailer is set to come in and take it over.

In May, Cheshire East Planning approved an application for external alterations to the store.

This will see the installation of two new glazed sections to either side of the unit's main entrance doors.

A Cheshire East planning officer was satisfied with the proposals - believing they were 'acceptable.'

A statement read: "The proposed development is considered to be of an acceptable design that is appropriate for the functional need and the surrounding site.

As of 2021, Shoe Zone has over 410 stores in different cities and towns throughout the UK and Ireland, with over 2,854 employees.

While the relocation works take place, the nearest Shoe Zone stores to Crewe are in Congleton and Stoke-on-Trent.
